President's Message: Avaya Acquisition of Nortel

The close of Avaya’s acquisition of Nortel is without a doubt one of the most important events in the history of INNUA. I can imagine you have many questions about what this means for your Nortel products, for all Nortel users and partners, and for INNUA. Below is a brief update regarding the future of our organization and what you and other Nortel customers can expect during and following this transition.

It is important to know that our organization will continue to exist with Avaya, providing the high-quality information, education, and advocacy that members and Nortel users have come to expect. We have been working closely with Avaya to ensure that our needs as users of Nortel products are met. I am encouraged with what I have learned so far. In roughly 30 days Avaya will present a roadmap, outlining their basic plan to integrate legacy Nortel products into the Avaya portfolio.

You will be able to learn about Avaya’s product roadmap in much greater detail during Global Connect 2010, April 18-22, in Denver, Colorado. You won’t want to miss this event, co-located with Avaya’s current user group. In addition to learning about Avaya’s plans for Nortel products, you will find high-quality workshops, networking opportunities, and product information that have made Global Connect the premier enterprise communications event for the past 25 years. More information will be available soon, including registration details. If you would like to present a best practice, case study, or provide other valuable information at Global Connect 2010, be sure to submit your presentation proposal before Friday, January 8, 2009.

If you are not currently a member of INNUA, now is as important a time as ever to join. As a member, you will receive the most up to date information regarding your Nortel products. In addition to news from INNUA headquarters, you’ll have the opportunity to pose questions and hear what other Nortel users are talking about on INNUA’s discussion forums, and gain significant discounts on Global Connect 2010 registration fees. INNUA will continue to provide members all the same benefits through the coming year.

Our immediate focus in the first quarter of 2010 will be to keep you informed of details as the transition into Avaya progresses. We will also be working hard to plan a Global Connect 2010 event that is the most valuable experience possible.

If you would like to communicate directly with the INNUA HQ regarding Nortel’s integration with Avaya or any other related matters, feel free to email anytime, at info@innua.org.

Sincerely,

Brad Tompkins
President
